NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE (NOIM) BASICS:
- The NOIM needs to be lodged at least a month prior to the ceremony
– The NOIM to be signed by both the bride and groom in front of a witness – either myself or a suitably qualified person described on the final page of the document
– The original NOIM needs to be provided to the celebrant for completion of the celebrant section and lodging
ID THAT NEEDS TO BE SIGHTED PRIOR TO WEDDING:
– An official birth certificate, or an official extract of an entry in an official register showing the date and place of birth of the party
– A statutory declaration from the party or party’s parent, stating: that it is impracticable to obtain a birth certificate and why, and that to the best of declarant’s knowledge, and as accurately as possible, when and where the party was born
– A passport issued by an overseas country (only acceptable for those born overseas)
